Tulsa Botanic Garden – ya dig?!?
The Tulsa Botanic Garden is hands down my favorite place to celebrate spring in Tulsa. Each time the girls and I go we discover something new. First we like to pretend each time we plan a trip there that we are going on a huge adventure! Yes it is in Tulsa. But it is located just past downtown. The drive out there is just 20 minutes from our house. It makes you feel far away. The beautiful trees and spectacular sky always seem to perform for us on our drive. When you go to the garden I recommend the following items.
- Running shoes
- If you have kids that are not old enough to walk I would bring a stroller.
- A heart ready for fun!
Our first stop is always the Children’s Discovery Garden. It has been open for almost one year. This area is filled with paths for kids to touch, smell and see bugs and plants. The Spring Giant is the first stop. The girls like to splash their hands in the water. Then go inside of the enormous Spring Giant. Behind this feature are the coolest instruments. What a gem to be able to jam out in a beautiful space. This area has a wall where you can write notes and draw with water.
Our next stop in the Children’s Discovery Garden is the tree house. Dressing up like a butterfly is priceless to my girls. It always gives you a stunning view to the rest of the garden. Up here you can also sit in the most beautiful chairs. My girls often feel this is the best stop to have their 100 snack of the day.
After touring this garden it is a must to take a walk around the pond. There are always birds performing in the sky. And the rest of the garden is so peaceful and stunning.
On May 13 is the annual fundraiser that benefits the Children’s Discovery Garden. The DIG (Day in the Garden) is my favorite event for my entire family. This is a private event where you need to purchase a tickets. The event is held from 4- 8 p.m. There is face painting, balloons, food, wine and tons of children’s activities. Make plans to make this a regular tradition for your family!
Last year’s The Dig at Tulsa Botanic Garden.
Every year this event sells out. If you are a member to the garden tickets are just $40 if you are not a member they are $60. Every ticket get a child in for free! Buy your tickets today at tulsabotanic.org.
