4 Months—Introducing Solids: Yay or Nay?
Yesterday Bennett had his 4 month check up. Yes, there were shots, and yes I almost passed out again. While talking with Dr. Gordon, whom I love and would refer to anyone looking for a Pediatrician, the subject of solid foods came up. So far, B has only had breastmilk and since he weighed in at 20 lbs. 2 ounces (100%) it seems to be getting the job done. Dr. Gordon said that anytime between 4 and 6 months is a good time to begin introducing solids.
I thought I would be more excited about this step, but I find myself hesitant. First of all, how is my little baby ready for solids? How did that happen? The past 4 months have flown by. Secondly, I plan on making my own baby food. Am I really ready to take on that challenge? Lastly, everyone seems to have a different opinion of when to start. Some say they started before 4 months, some say they waited until after 6 months.
I’m reading the book “Super Baby Food” and they suggest starting with cereal in breastmilk, avocado or sweet potato. So I’m asking you…when did you introduce solids and what was it?
