Tulsa Air and Space Museum: Birthday Parties That are Out of This World
Planning a party for a future pilot or astronaut? Is your kid wild about black holes and space exploration? Plan a party at Tulsa Air and Space Museum, and watch their eyes light up like stars! TASM is truly a unique party venue – where else can you hold your birthday party in a real airplane? Below, Tulsa Air and Space Museum answers questions about what makes a TASM party extra-special; find additional info in the TulsaKids Party Planner.
1. What party packages does TASM offer? And are there any upgrades available to your basic packages?
You can choose between the Aviation package and the Galaxy package when you book your party at TASM. Both include rental of the birthday room for up to 3 hours, set-up of tables, chairs, and linens, use of an audio system, and admission to the museum and planetarium for all guests. Hosts can have a party set up in the MD-80 or add on the stomp rockets activity or astronaut ice cream party favors. You can view all the information about party packages and add-ons at tulsamuseum.org/birthday-parties.
2. What makes TASM a great party venue?
There are so many fun things to do at a TASM birthday party that you just cannot find anywhere else: see a show in the planetarium, sit in a Ranger 2000, pilot a space shuttle, fly a hot air balloon, explore a real American Airlines MD-80, or take your photo in front of our real F-14 Tomcat. It is a unique birthday party that your little one will never forget.
3. What hours are parties offered?
Birthday parties are offered during the museum’s normal hours of operation, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parties can be scheduled after hours for an additional fee.
4. I see on your website that you can hold your party in the MD-80. What can you tell me about that? Is there enough space for all the guests to move around?
Our MD-80 is a real American Airlines plane that once soared through the sky and now lives right here at TASM. The first-class cabin and cockpit are still intact, but the rest of the plane is cleared out, allowing for set up for tables and chairs. It is a unique touch that works well for smaller birthday parties.
5. What does TASM provide, and what should parents plan on bringing?
TASM provides tables, chairs, and table cloths, as well as unique party activities that little ones are sure to love and a special gift for the guest of honor.
Parents will need to bring cake and any snacks they wish to serve as well as plates, candles, napkins, and cutlery. Parents are encouraged to bring any additional decorations they would like to use to decorate the party room for their little one’s special day.
6. Tell us about the Stomp Rockets Activity Add-on.
The stomp rockets activity gives party guests an opportunity to build their own paper rocket and send it soaring into the air. Guests get to take their rockets home with them as a special keepsake.
7. What is a good age range for hosting a party at TASM?
TASM parties are great for the young and the young at heart. We have hosted first birthday parties as well as surprise parties for grown-ups’ milestone birthdays. Anyone who loves planes and space will love having their party at TASM.
8. Party guests get a Planetarium ticket. Do these need to be used during the party, or are the good for any time? What Planetarium shows might they be able to attend?
Planetarium show tickets need to be used during the party. Most groups choose a show to attend all at once. Shows happen regularly throughout the day, so there are many options for hosts to choose from. Our current planetarium schedule, including show descriptions and trailers, can be found at tulsamuseum.org/james-e-bertelsmeyer-planetarium.
9. What are some favorite TASM attractions that guests can enjoy at the party?
We have just opened a new space shuttle simulator for guest to enjoy in the exhibit hall. Guests love our F14 Tomcat (just like in Top Gun), Mars Rover prototypes, and assortment of planes that you can sit in. The planetarium cannot be beat. Anyone can show a movie at their party, but a planetarium show is really something special.
10. How far in advance do you need to reserve your party? Is there a deposit, and is it refundable?
We ask that guests book their parties at least two weeks in advance. A $50 deposit and a signed contract are required to complete a booking.
11. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Here at Tulsa Air and Space Museum we are dedicated to sharing our love of aviation and space travel. We love helping plan parties that spark the imagination of everyone in attendance. We will go above and beyond in helping you plan a party that’s truly out of this world.
