8 Pumpkin Treats to Try Around Tulsa This October
Local bakeries and cafes are helping Tulsans get in the mood for fall by celebrating the ultimate fall flavor: pumpkin! Here are some pumpkin-flavored treats we can’t wait to try in Tulsa this year:
1. Pumpkin Conchas (and more!) at Dulce Vida Café
Being a coffee shop, Dulce Vida Café naturally has some fun seasonal drinks, like its pumpkin horchata or pumpkin French toast latte topped with maple cold foam. Either of these beverages would pair perfectly with the café’s locally made pumpkin pastries, from the charming pumpkin conchas, made by SH Conchitas, to the indulgent pumpkin tres leches cake, made by Iris Pastries and Cocina Mexicana, or a classic pumpkin muffin, from Gracefully Made by Jessi.

2. Pumpkin Pie-filled Croissants at Saint Amon Baking Co.
Saint Amon specializes in French pastries and has made a name for itself with its fabulously flaky croissants and mouthwatering entremets. This month, visit on weekends for pumpkin pie-filled croissants or gluten-free pumpkin mini loaves.

3. Pumpkindoodle Cookies at Cookie Mama!
According to owner Carol Piles, Cookie Mama’s pumpkindoodle cookies are a seasonal fan favorite. They’re available either unfrosted or with a generous piping of cream cheese frosting.

4. Halloween and Pumpkin Cones at Little Taiyaki
Little Taiyaki’s soft-serve taiyaki cones are not only Instagram-worthy, they taste just as good as they look (if not even better!). In addition to chocolate and vanilla, Little Taiyaki offers monthly specialty flavors and creative cones. In October, choose from the Halloween Cone, featuring a swirl of vanilla black sesame and pumpkin spice flavors, topped with Halloween sprinkles, a ghost marshmallow, gummy worms and a pumpkin cookie. Or if you’re a pumpkin purist, go for the Pumpkin Cone: pumpkin soft serve blended with Oreo crumbs and topped with chocolate coconut cookies.

5. Pumpkin Pancakes and Pumpkin Cold Brew Latte at The Big Biscuit
Get your day off to a great start by breakfasting at The Big Biscuit! The Big Biscuit’s plate-sized pumpkin pancakes — made with pumpkin puree and classic fall spices – are topped with whipped cream and a dusting of powdered sugar. They’re the perfect complement to the restaurant’s pumpkin cold brew latte: Peruvian cold brew with milk and pumpkin spices, served over ice and topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.

6. Pumpkin Bread at Merritt’s Bakery
Merritt’s Bakery’s handmade pumpkin bread is a tasty take on this fall classic and has been a Tulsa favorite for years. The bakery describes it as “soft, moist and filled with warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg” and recommends serving it with a spread of honey butter. Yum!

7. Pumpkin Mousse Pie at Common Tart
Common Tart is always serving up fun seasonal flavors, whether that be the shop’s sure-to-sell-out rhubarb pies in the summer or this month’s pumpkin mousse pie (topped with whipped cream). We’re big fans of Common Tart’s signature pie crust, but their graham cracker crust – which is the base for the pumpkin mousse — is just as good! Available by the slice or as a whole pie — call ahead to confirm availability.

8. Pumpkin Cinnamon Muffin at Brice’s Coffee & Bake House
Brice’s Coffee and Bake House is going all-in on fall flavors, with a special pumpkin cinnamon muffin as well as house-made pumpkin spiced syrup you can add to your favorite coffee drink. A sugar-free version is available, too. If you find yourself a bit “pumpkined out,” try Brice’s Golden Slice — a glazed croissant filled with cinnamon-and-brown sugar custard.
