Five Great Playgrounds to Visit

Do you have a favorite Tulsa-area playground? With so many to choose from, we wanted to highlight some of our favorites, all of which opened around 2023-2024.

1. Hope Playground at Whiteside Park

Hope Playground opened in September 2023 at Whiteside Park, 4009 S. Pittsburg Ave. This gorgeous playground is fully accessible so that people of all abilities can enjoy the equipment. The bright colors are designed to help with spatial orientation, and there are accessible slides, merry-go-rounds, swings and restrooms. cityoftulsa.org

2. Jenks Riverwalk

Jenks Riverwalk’s playground opened in early April 2024. The 4,000-square-foot playground features “the largest rotomolded slide in the world, an Eagles Nest play area, and Muscogee Nation culturally significant design elements such as canoes, clan animals, and more” (facebook.com/jenksriverwalk). 3. Tulsa Air and Space Museum

Blast off! at Tulsa Air and Space Museum’s space- and rocket-themed play area (3624 N. 74th E. Ave.). Beyond enjoying the out-of-this-world equipment, visitors will have a fantastic view of Tulsa International Airport’s runway! tulsamuseum.org

4. Elam Park in Broken Arrow

Elam Park

Elam Park, located at 2900 W. Florence St. in Broken Arrow, opened in summer 2024. Phase I of the park features a large adaptive destination playground, restrooms, a tree grove gathering area and more. brokenarrowok.gov

5. Washington Irving River Park

Connecting Washington Irving Memorial Park (13700 S. Memorial Dr., Bixby) and Harmony Bridge in Bixby, Washington Irving River Park features a vibrant playground, with equipment kids of all ages can enjoy. Families will be grateful for the new restroom facility and shaded areas. Head toward the river for a riverside beach play area and porch-style swings overlooking the river.
