Christmas in Branson 2026: Family Activities & Lights
Millions of lights, festive shows and family fun make the Ozarks a perfect holiday destination.

There are only so many Christmases when our children are little enough to believe in flying reindeer, write letters to Santa and count down the days until Christmas morning.
But the magic of the season doesn’t have to disappear as they grow older. In fact, some of the best holiday memories are made when families experience something special together.
Just a few hours from Tulsa, in the Ozark Mountains, there’s a place that specializes in Christmas magic.
Every November, Branson, Mo., transforms into a holiday wonderland, with millions of sparkling lights, festive performances, nostalgic experiences and enough holiday cheer to delight everyone from wide-eyed preschoolers to teenagers.
With so much to see and do, families can fill an entire weekend with Christmas activities—or return year after year and discover something new.
Where Christmas Comes to Life
If there’s one place that captures the sheer wonder of Christmas in Branson, it’s Silver Dollar City.
During An Old Time Christmas, millions of lights illuminate the amusement park’s streets, buildings and attractions. An eight-story animated Christmas tree towers over the festivities, while the lighting of the magnificent Grand Fir adds another highlight to the evening.
New for 2026, the Stars, Lights and Christmas Nights parade adds even more sparkle to the celebration.
But Silver Dollar City is more than a place to admire Christmas lights. With more than 40 rides and attractions, live entertainment, artisan demonstrations and holiday festivities, families can easily spend an entire day exploring the park before watching it come alive after dark.
For another kind of adventure, the North Pole Adventure at Shepherd of the Hills offers holiday fun for all ages. Younger children can visit Santa, meet barnyard animals, enjoy face painting and explore the playground. Older kids and teens can seek out thrills on the Copperhead Mountain Coaster or Vigilante Extreme ZipRider.
And for a holiday experience the whole family can enjoy together, Shepherd of the Hills’ Trail of Lights drive-through winds through a wonderland of illuminated displays.
All Aboard for Holiday Magic
Some Christmas traditions seem made for childhood, and a ride aboard Branson Scenic Railway‘s The Polar Express is one of them.
Inspired by the beloved Christmas story, the train ride invites families to slip into their favorite holiday pajamas, climb aboard and experience the wonder of a journey to the North Pole.
Along the way, dancing chefs serve hot chocolate, the conductor collects golden tickets and Santa makes a special appearance, presenting children with the first gift of Christmas.
For families who prefer to take in the sights from the streets, Branson’s Christmas Lights Trolley Trips offer another way to enjoy the season. The excursions showcase holiday displays around the city, from Historic Downtown Branson to elaborate drive-through light attractions.
A Season of Showstoppers
Branson has long been known for its live entertainment, and Christmas brings an extra dose of sparkle to its theaters.
At Dolly Parton’s Stampede, the holiday celebration combines a four-course meal with horseback stunts, music and a friendly competition between the North and South Poles. Santa even makes a grand entrance aboard a horse-drawn sleigh. Families can arrive early to meet the show’s horses in the open-air stables.
For a traditional Christmas extravaganza, Christmas Wonderland at King’s Castle Theatre fills the stage with elaborate costumes, energetic dancing and a mix of classic and contemporary holiday favorites.
Families with older children and teens may especially enjoy The Haygoods, a sibling group whose high-energy performances combine rock, country and pop music with more than 20 instruments, special effects and impressive stage production.
For something a little different, the Silver Dollar City Showboat pairs a three-course meal with live music, dancing, comedy and magic on the shores of Table Rock Lake.
With more than 30 Christmas-themed live music shows throughout the destination, there’s no shortage of ways to add a little entertainment to a holiday getaway.
Something New for 2026
Even families who make Branson an annual Christmas tradition will find something new to discover in 2026.
The new Christkindlmarkt brings the charm of a European Christmas market to the Ozarks, with handmade gifts, local craftsmanship and festive food and drinks. Visitors can browse for one-of-a-kind gifts while enjoying the sights, sounds and flavors of a traditional holiday market.
Meanwhile, the Aquarium at the Boardwalk is introducing Christmas Under the Sea, a new holiday-themed attraction that blends Santa’s Christmas magic with an underwater adventure.
Families begin their journey at Candy Harbor before setting off on a festive adventure that leads beneath the sea, where sharks, rays, jellyfish and thousands of other marine animals are part of a Christmas-themed experience featuring music and playful surprises.
Plan Your Branson Christmas Getaway
Branson’s holiday season begins November 1 and continues into January, giving families plenty of opportunities to plan a visit.
Those hoping to avoid the busiest crowds may want to consider traveling before Thanksgiving, particularly after the second week of November when most seasonal attractions are operating. The two weeks following Thanksgiving, before schools dismiss for Christmas break, can also be a wonderful time to visit.
Whether your family is drawn to the excitement of Silver Dollar City, the nostalgia of The Polar Express or the entertainment that has made Branson famous, there’s plenty to fill a holiday weekend.
And with Branson just a few hours from Tulsa, a Christmas getaway might be closer than you think.
