Get Outside: Nature & Adventure in Bentonville

One of the perks of a road trip is being able to bring along the extras—like your bikes. Coler Mountain Bike Preserve in Bentonville makes it easy to turn that into a full day of adventure. With more than 19 miles of trails, the preserve offers options for all ages and skill levels, and admission is free.

Spend the day walking or riding through the Ozarks, taking in the natural landscape and quirky art installations along the way, including a rainbow dinosaur. Families looking for a little extra movement can tackle The Rise, a scenic stairway that leads to views from the top of the preserve. Private guided rides are also available for more experienced riders who want to make the most of their time on the trails.

Take a Break

Afterward, refuel at Airship, the open-air cafe located right along the trail. You’ll find locally roasted coffee, smoothies, shareable nachos and easy options for a quick break.

In the summer, plan to stay a little later. Coler hosts free Firefly Walks through Arkansas’ first certified firefly sanctuary, offering a chance to see these insects in their natural habitat.

Extend Your Stay

If your family enjoys camping, consider staying onsite at the Coler Campgrounds. Located just minutes from downtown Bentonville, the campground accommodates tents and camper vans and includes convenient onsite amenities. Reserving ahead is recommended.
