Inside My Inbox: 10 Sites the Hip Mom Is Plugged Into Now
Whether it’s shopping, parent tips, pop culture, or life hacks, these hip internet subscriptions are the ones that I look forward to seeing in my inbox:
1. Goop
Gwyneth Paltrow’s creation, is a site featuring the categories Make, Go, Get, Do, Be, and See. Goop highlights everything from environmental actions to favorite recipes and must-have fashion. Unpretentious and relevant, Goop really delivers.
2. Very Short List
Or VSL, an entertainment and media site, sends one short and sweet find each day. VSL features unique film, web video, music, television, and book recommendations. Don’t expect online US Weekly or E! content; VSL is pop culture at its most unique and intelligent form. [2020 Update: Very Short List is no longer available]
3. Life Hacker
The original life hack site, lifehacker.com boasts daily tips for getting things done smarter and more efficiently. From laundry tricks, to resume polishing, to tech tips, Life Hacker is a must.

4. Hautelook
This invitation-only site features exclusive sales on women’s, men’s, kids’, and home furnishing’s top lines such as Splendid, Calvin Klein Collection or Perricone MD skincare, all at 40 to 75 percent off. But be aware that the good stuff goes fast and sales only last about two days.
5. Shop it to Me
This sale site allows customization such as size, brand, and item. You can specify how often you want to be alerted to your favorite sale items including everything from Banana Republic to Ella Moss.
6. Mini Social
Another invitation-only site offers baby, child and mom gear and clothing with special Mini Social sales. [2020 Update: Mini Social’s website does not appear to be updated.]
7. Tarot
Daily horoscope. OK, OK, I know — horoscopes? But as much or as little as you believe in astrology, my daily horoscope, if nothing more than a means to focus on what is going on in my life, is a treat for me each morning.

8. DailyCandy
You can pick from several categories to customize your newsletter so you are not getting things you don’t want. I subscribe to DailyCandy’s Travel and Deals newsletters. The deals sent weekly are essential for not only great coupons for your favorite cool Internet shops, but DC also specializes in otherwise unknown new, fresh and unique sites. [2020 Update: DailyCandy no longer exists.]
9. The Art of Non-Conformity
Chris Guillebeau chronicles his writing against conventional beliefs, and focuses on three areas: Life, Work, and Travel. Chris’s manifestos include A Brief Guide to World Domination, How to Be Awesome, and Why You Should Quit Your Job and Travel Around the World. Both thought provoking and useful, new AONC emails never disappoint.

10. Cool Mom Picks
Cool Mom Picks is just that. Hand picked products and trends so that we moms “can stay busy being fabulous.” With these great newsletters, opening your inbox can be a present every day. (And some may be just what you need for your brain, wallet or, dare I say, fashion addiction!)
