“Amplify Youth Health Day” Celebrates the Well-Being of Tulsa’s Youth
Mayor G.T. Bynum has proclaimed November 3 as “Amplify Youth Health Day” in the City of Tulsa, a day dedicated to championing the health and well-being of young people in Tulsa. The proclamation comes in recognition of Amplify Youth Health Collective’s 10th anniversary this year.
“As we celebrate this significant milestone, Amplify Youth Health Collective (Amplify) encourages all members of the community to support young people and the vision of creating vibrant communities with healthy youth,” said Heather Duvall, Executive Director of Amplify.
Amplify Youth Health Collective works with partners in the community to coordinate sexual health education for young people, train youth-serving professionals, and to provide parents and trusted adults with resources to support youth.
According to Amplify, Tulsa County’s teen birth rate has declined 67% since 2009 alongside the expansion of sexual health programs and services. “This is a significant achievement and it is essential to recognize the important role that sexual health plays as one of the many factors that contribute to overall well-being, especially for adolescents in our community,” said Duvall.
Amplify invites everyone in Tulsa to come together to celebrate Amplify Youth Health Day and build a healthier, brighter future for Tulsa’s youth. Community organizations are encouraged to highlight health-related services available to youth on social media using the hashtag #AmplifyYouthHealthDay.
Parents and trusted adults are encouraged to begin talking with young people in their lives about sexual health and well-being, and they can visit amplifytulsa.org/blog to find helpful tips and resources from Amplify to start the conversation.
