TulsaKids Magazine, a trusted resource for families across the Tulsa area for more than 35 years, is pleased to announce new leadership. Amanda Murphy has been named Owner and Publisher, and Natalie Mikles has been appointed Editor. Chuck Foshee, who began as TulsaKids’ graphic designer and art director, took over as publisher and led the magazine to win numerous national print and digital awards over the years. He stepped down in December 2025 after selling the publication to Murphy.

“Being owner/publisher of TulsaKids has been a privilege,” Foshee said. “I grew up in Tulsa, got married and raised a family here. TulsaKids has supported families and contributed to the community for many years and will continue to do so.”

Natalie Mikles brings more than 20 years of experience in journalism, magazine publishing and multimedia storytelling to her new role. Her career includes serving as a content editor for Martha Stewart, Parents and Better Homes & Gardens. She has also worked as a features writer and columnist for TulsaKids and TulsaPeople magazines, as a travel writer for Oklahoma Today and as a representative for the Made in Oklahoma Coalition. Many local readers know Natalie for her coverage of local food, parenting, travel and culture.

Natalie grew up in the Tulsa area and began her journalism career as a writer and reporter for the Tulsa World after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Oklahoma. “I’ve loved writing for TulsaKids for the last 13 years, and I’m excited to step into the editor role,” said Mikles. “I’ve read the magazine through many seasons of parenting, and I know how valuable it is to have reliable, local information you can actually use. My goal is to build on that foundation by telling stories that reflect the real lives, questions and priorities of families in our community.”

After more than 30 years guiding TulsaKids through myriad advances in publishing technology, and through the difficulties caused by the COVID pandemic, Betty Casey plans to continue writing and painting as well as spending more time with family.

“I’ve loved my work with TulsaKids and am thrilled to leave it in the capable hands of Natalie Mikles and Amanda Murphy,” Casey said. “I look forward to exciting changes and continued growth.”

Amanda Murphy, a Tulsa native, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Spanish from The University of Tulsa. For the past 20 years, her career has focused on marketing management and business development across a variety of industries. She holds a Master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Master’s degree in New Media Studies from DePaul University. Immediately prior to becoming Owner and Publisher, Amanda worked for TulsaKids Magazine.

“Natalie and I truly love the publication and are excited to build on the legacy left by Chuck Foshee and Betty Casey, while adding new and exciting elements,” explains Murphy. “There truly isn’t a better time to be part of TulsaKids.”

Murphy also emphasizes the breadth of TulsaKids’ offerings and audience. “I think one of the misconceptions around TulsaKids is that we are just a print publication. The magazine’s digital audience is actually larger,” she states. “Our audience includes parents and grandparents who make decisions for the children in their lives while also actively seeking products and services for themselves.”

Each year, TulsaKids Magazine earns multiple editorial and design awards at the Parenting Media Association Annual Conference. With a focus on parents and caregivers of children from infancy through high school, TulsaKids serves as a trusted resource for families seeking information on education, health, activities and community life. Adults looking for things to do with and for their children—and for themselves—continue to turn to TulsaKids for reliable, locally relevant content.
