What’s Next for the Owasso Library?

Well, as of Saturday, Aug. 2, the Owasso Library is officially closed – in order to prepare for a brand-new library going in at the same location! The Owasso Library will operate out of a temporary location, the 5th Avenue Business Park, starting Sept. 2. (About 1 mile from the current location.) Until that time, holds can be picked up at the Collinsville Library. I saw a Facebook comment that the new library is projected to be completed in spring 2027. Find the latest updates from the Owasso Library at tulsalibrary.org/locations/owasso or on Facebook: @OwassoLibrary

The new Owasso Library has generated a lot of buzz on social media, as it “will be the first in the state of Oklahoma to feature multifamily housing units above the ground floor library with separate entrances.” (mylibraryourfuture.org/owasso-library/new-library). In addition to being on the ground floor of a multi-use complex, the new library will be about twice as large as the current branch and feature a larger children’s area + children’s patio, maker space and other cool features. See renderings and find additional details at mylibraryourfuture.org/owasso-library/new-library. Plus, you can get a look at three other new libraries in the works: Rudisill, Brookside, and South Broken Arrow. Both Rudisill and Brookside broke ground in June 2024, so they’re well under way!

Anyway, we visited the Owasso Library before heading to Collinsville the other day. It was our first time, and I loved the beautiful murals! So here are some photos to remember it by. Plus, Owasso is the current home of Marlow the Pig, who is pretty much a local celebrity at this point! So we were excited to see his art gallery, too.
