Indigo Tie Dye Company and Harmony Bridge

Joss’s final end-of-summer request was to eat at one of his favorite places, Gung Ho. We more frequently go to the one by Tulsa Hills because it’s slightly closer, but we went to the South Memorial location this time because….I really wanted to swing by Boss Tea and try a Labubu jelly.

I went for the novelty, but it was honestly pretty tasty.

Because we’re rarely that far south on Memorial, we decided to take the opportunity to head into downtown Bixby to check out Indigo Tie Dye Company. And on the way back, I walked halfway across Harmony Bridge. It looked so pretty from the road, I wanted a closer look!

Update: Indigo Tie Dye Company will close the doors of their storefront on Sept. 21. However, they will still be available for events and mobile parties. Follow them on Facebook for updates: facebook.com/indigotiedyecompany

Indigo Tie Dye was just voted Favorite Birthday Party Vendor in our 2025 Family Favorites Contest. They have a permanent location in downtown Bixby, which was thankfully open on Sunday, but they do mobile events as well. You can book a party at the location or just walk-in for some impromptu fun, which is what we did.

How it works:

  • Choose what you want to tie dye. While we were there, they had T-shirts, tote bags, socks and bandanas.

  • Then, select one of ten Tie-Dye designs they have on display. The staff will help prep your item to ensure you get the design you want.
  • Sit at a table, and get to work! The pigments are provided, as well as a nice tray to minimize mess. (They have aprons as well.) They’ll explain how many colors you need and where to place them in order to make your chosen design work.

  • When you’re finished (it doesn’t take too long), the staff will help you put it in a bag to take home. The shirt is still wet, so they’ll give you a card explaining how to finish the process at home. It’s pretty simple. Voila!

Take some time to shop while you’re in the store. They also sell their own tie-dye products as well as merchandise by local makers.

Harmony Bridge

I’ve already written about our visit to the Washington Irving River Park in Bixby. Or at least the new playground. It’s a large park, and we haven’t even begun to explore the wooded area. This time, we made it down to the sandy part by the river, where you can swing, enjoy covered seating, etc. It’s very nice, and they even have a couple of standing binocular setups to help you spot local wildlife.

Anyway, next to this part of the Washington Irving River Park is the entrance to Harmony Bridge. Which, according to cyntergy.com, is “one of the very few bridge parks in the country.” We did not make the most of our visit, as it was incredibly hot. But I’m still glad to have gotten an up-close look at at least half of the 2,000-foot-long bridge.

In addition to a divided biking section, this pedestrian bridge features play areas and interactive musical elements, covered seating and tables, interesting lighting (which you can see here), educational signage, etc. Oh, and of course, treble clef sculptures where you can place locks commemorating love, or just making your mark. Despite the heat, it was very lovely, and I can see why this would be a popular destination in cooler months.

Someday, we’ll have to visit Bixby on a day that isn’t Sunday because there’s a lot closed. But we packed in a lot in one afternoon regardless. What are your favorite Bixby businesses to visit?
