Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls

An easy Easter breakfast

I was looking for easy Easter treat ideas and came across a recipe for Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls. It’s hardly a recipe, as it mainly involves a can of cinnamon roll dough and some food coloring. In other words, it was exactly what I was looking for, and I think they turned out pretty cute!

Ingredients

  • Can of cinnamon rolls – buy one that includes frosting, or make your own using powdered sugar and milk; Use more than one can, depending on how many people you’re feeding!
  • Food coloring
  • Sprinkles, candy eyes, candy, for decorating (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. I have some nice silicone liners for my baking sheets; if you don’t have these, prepare the pan with non-stick spray or parchment paper.
  2. Open the can of cinnamon rolls, and separate the rolls. Unroll each roll until you have a long enough strip that can be used to make the ears (about 9 inches, according to delish.com). Bend that strip into an “M,” pinching the ears together slightly, and tucking the end under so it doesn’t fly out and ruin the ear definition.
  3. Bake your bunnies for 10 minutes; remove from the oven, and use utensils to pinch the ears just a little more. (They’ll be puffing up, and you don’t want them to get too puffy. So just re-define them as needed.) Return to the oven for 8-10 more minutes.
  4. While the bunnies are baking, take your prepared icing and add food coloring. I put half of my icing into a small bowl so I could do two colors.
  5. Once you remove the bunnies from the oven, let them cool slightly, then spread the icing on top. Use sprinkles as decoration. Or, if you have candy eyes, add those along with a pink jelly bean or similar candy. Some people online used colored M&Ms or something, but I always enjoy the goofy look of candy eyes.
