With improved weather conditions, Public Works crews have shifted their focus from plowing to black ice response and pothole repairs.

Due to forecasted freezing fog and the potential for black ice, crews will be working overnight tonight and overnight Wednesday night to apply brine (salt/water mixture) to the roadways.

Motorists are urged to continue to use caution, maintain distance from the City’s brine trucks, and never attempt to pass them while they are working.

Refuse and Recycling

  • Trash service resumes Tuesday – Please place your gray cart at the curb on your regular service day (Monday customers can put their cart out on Tuesday) and crews will pick it up as soon as they are able.
  • If your cart is not picked up on your regular service day, please leave it at the curb until it’s able to be collected later this week.
  • Recycling will resume next week, with customers being allowed to put extra recyclables in a recyclable container (i.e. cardboard box) alongside their blue recycling cart.

Waterline Breaks

City of Tulsa Water & Sewer personnel remain ready to respond to waterline breaks as they happen. Since last Friday, crews have responded to 44 waterline breaks. Water crews are currently able to keep up with demand and have night shift and on-call personnel ready to respond as conditions warrant.

If you see a waterline break:

Because temperatures will again plummet on Friday through the weekend, residents should continue to practice heightened awareness by dripping faucets, ensuring outdoor spigots are covered, and leaving sink cabinets open.

Weather Safety Reminders

As snow melts and refreezes, black ice can form. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, decrease speed and increase following distance. Pedestrians should also take their time at home, on sidewalks, and in parking lots to limit the risk of falling.
