“White Christmas” Sing-Alongs at Circle Cinema

I‘m sure I’ve said it before, but while we have our favorite Tulsa holiday traditions, it’s also fun to try something new each year. For 2025, I already wrote about our first time attending Woolaroc Wonderland of Lights. And on Christmas Eve, we attended one of the “White Christmas” Sing-Alongs at Circle Cinema. I’d thought about it in the past, but wasn’t sure Joss would be on board. Now that he’s ten, I figured we’d give it a try. While he did seem to have a nice time overall, thanks to Circle Cinema’s fabulous concessions and the fun pre-movie trivia/bloopers, the film didn’t quite hold his attention all the way to the end. Of course, each child is different, and he may just have been extra tired, who knows.
What makes these screenings special
Circle Cinema’s “White Christmas” Sing-Alongs are a Tulsa tradition for a reason. Besides being a beloved holiday classic, Circle Cinema provides pre-show entertainment. We were lucky to be there on a day when Tulsa Opera was singing in the lobby. Shortly after we’d taken our seats, it was time for some trivia! Jody McIntyre, who’s in charge of membership at Circle Cinema, did a wonderful job asking trivia questions (for prizes!) and filling everything in with funny bloopers from the film and additional trivia tidbits. It gave the audience something extra to look for when watching the film. For example, there’s a scene where Vera-Ellen sets down a coffee pot, and in the next frame, she’s magically holding it again. Since we’d been warned about this blooper in advance, the whole audience chuckled when we saw that on screen.
After the show begins, of course, there is the chance to sing along with the cast. The words are printed on screen, making it easy even if you don’t know the lyrics. But audience members are also given props before the show, which are used to interact with the film throughout. A cup – to make a toast with – a bell – to ring at specified times – and a feather – to play with during “Sisters, Sisters.” And a candy cane, just for fun.
After the show, a representative of the Sooner State Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) played Christmas carols on the organ at the front of the theater. Everyone was invited to stay and sing along if they wanted.
Concessions and merch
Circle Cinema’s concessions are so affordable compared to other theaters. We got a small popcorn, bag of cotton candy, bottle of water, and their “White Christmas” special (hot cocoa and a cookie) for less than $20. That is much appreciated!
Browse their gift shop area for the latest “White Christmas” merch. This year, they were selling these lovely sweatshirts. I was tempted to buy one but held off…for now. Definitely would make a nice memento if you go with family/friends you need a present for.
Get tickets early
Of course, the “White Christmas” Sing-Alongs are over for the year. But if you read this and are thinking you’d like to attend in 2026, don’t wait to get tickets once they’re released. I bought our tickets after seeing a post warning people that tickets were running low for all remaining showtimes, excluding Christmas Eve. When I got our Christmas Eve tickets, there was good availability. A couple days later, they were all gone. So yes, they will sell out!
All in all, we had a wonderful time, and I would be happy to make this one of our annual traditions. If you love musicals, incredible dancing, nostalgia, trivia, good community spirit, etc., you’ll enjoy this event.
