Tulsa Rocks Benefit Concert #3
One reason I started my TulsaRocks podcast is to help other people affected by the pandemic, as I was. Since my many years in radio in Tulsa, I’ve gathered a loyal following of fans and significant number of social media friends and followers, so I started my podcast to connect them with local Tulsa-area small businesses, nonprofits, charity events, music and lifestyle events and local landmarks, such as the Church Studio, Gathering Place, and the Outsiders House Museum.
It was shortly after I started my podcast that Mayor Bynum proclaimed July “Tulsa Music Month.” I felt compelled to do something with my podcast since supporting music in Tulsa is part of my mission. Because of that, tomorrow night will be my Tulsa Rocks Concert #3.
And, also staying within the mission of my podcast, every time I do a concert I choose a local nonprofit as a benefactor. Tomorrow night’s concert will benefit The Outsiders House Museum. The Outsiders House Museum is dedicated to preserving artifacts related to the movie and book with the same name from SE Hinton. The museum is located on the corner of St. Louis and Independence, or, as it’s now known, Pony Boy Curtis Way and Curtis Brothers Lane.
The movie was filmed in 1982 at the house and several locations in Green Country and has always been one of my favorite movies. If you live in Tulsa and haven’t been yet, first, watch the movie if you’ve not seen it, and then check out the museum, you’ll be glad you did.

My benefit concert tomorrow night will feature three local bands that have all donated their time to preserving the Tulsa music scene. Ronnie Pyle and the Drivers, Gustos Rocking Jazz Brats, and Riverside Rebellion. It is a free show with donations taken at the door.
We will have many items the will be raffled off like VIP Rocklahoma tickets, an autographed guitar from Poison’s lead singer, Bret Michaels, concert tickets to Alice n Chains, and Tommy Howell, who was a star in The Outsiders as Ponyboy Curtis. He is playing a concert at The Shrine on July 15th. If you win, you get two tickets to his concert, a very rare lithograph and you get to meet him!
