Turkey Mountain, Tulsa State Fair and Taylor Swift

Turkey Mountain Base Camp

If you have not heard of Basecamp, it is held at Turkey Mountain. Turkey Mountain is an incredible gem in our city. It’s fun, promotes exercise and wellness, and the views are breathtaking. Hiking at Turkey mountain is a lot of fun, and what a perfect place to go camping! Although they only allow camping one night every year, and this year it was September 30.

Folk music, s’mores over a giant fire pit, thousands of glow sticks hanging from the trees along the hiking trails, and sleeping under the stars makes for a magical night!

You must put it on your bucket list for next year. I’ll be there!

Tulsa State Fair

Did you know there were over 120 animals born in the birthing center at this year’s Tulsa State Fair? And over 1 million visitors??!! WOW!

The weather was perfect except for the night I planned on going. Since I’m a rock music fan I wanted to see .38 Special, but they cancelled. In fact, the whole fair closed early because of the inclement weather that night.

The only other day I could take the kids was on Sunday, the final day of the fair. It was packed! In fact, so packed we didn’t feel like standing in the lines for the rides. We just enjoyed a corn dog, people watching, and danced along with an all-female band from Muskogee called “Sister Stone.” Oh, and ate CRICKET 🦗 PIZZA!

My Tulsa Rocks podcast cohost, Jill Monroe, and I had the great idea of trying their pizza with crickets on it! And we suckered the band into it, too.

Taylor Swift

Thanks to “Tay 95.5” (K95.5), I was Cool Dad because I was able to score passes to the Taylor Swift Eras concert movie at Cinergy Entertainment. Everything ”Tay Tay” touches turns to “gold gold.” Her movie, like her tour, has been causing sequined hysteria around the world. Opening weekend grossed over $120,000,000.

It was almost 3 hours long. That’s a long time for 9-year-old kids to sit. Angel and her friend Izzy had fun, but after a couple hours even Taylor Swift couldn’t keep their attention, so they both were on their phones when I said, “OK, let’s go.”

We didn’t stay for the whole thing but loved what we saw!!!

Have you taken your kids to see Taylor Swift in concert or the movie?

Are they watching football now?

Are they Kansas City Swifties fans now?

I wanna know! Lynn@Tulsa-Rocks.com
