“The Grinch”: Now Playing at the Tulsa PAC
Nov. 18-23, 2025

Joss and I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” The Musical, courtesy Celebrity Attractions. We attended opening night, Nov. 18, but the production is in town through Sunday, Nov. 23. It was thoroughly entertaining, with multiple laugh-out-loud moments throughout, and a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit. Of course, there were heartwarming moments as well, especially between Cindy Lou Who and The Grinch, but also between “Old Max” (the canine narrator) as he looks back on his younger self, a puppy thoroughly under-cared-for by the selfish Grinch.
The highlight of the show, for anyone who grew up watching the 1966 Boris Karloff version, is no doubt the community sing-along of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch!” The show has a variety of new songs to appreciate, but it’s always nice to hear something familiar — especially if you’re invited to join in.
While it is shorter than your standard Broadway musical, “The Grinch” does not have an intermission and lasted slightly over an hour. This is probably the main reason it is recommended for ages 5+.
It was fun to see all the kids (and grownups!) show up in Grinch and Christmas-inspired outfits. Show up early to enjoy the free photo booth and shop at the merch counter. Also, one thing I didn’t realize was, if you leave your I.D. at the coat check counter, you can check out a free pair of binoculars! We didn’t do this, but another TulsaKids family did, which seemed like a great idea, especially if you’re sitting further back.
Joss, of course, always wants a snack or a Pepsi. For adults, there’s even a “Grinch” drink special: the Holiday Heist, with Rum, Midori, Sprite and a cherry garnish.
We went to Holé Molé for Taco Tuesday before the show (and also to enjoy their Christmas decor!), and ended up at the Tulsa PAC roughly an hour before the performance. I like arriving places early, but generally not an hour early! But it ended up being a nice time to take advantage of all the photo opportunities and to not feel rushed. Plus, we knew some other people there, so the socializing was an added bonus.
