Tails and Ales Dog Park and Broken Arrow’s New Reasor’s

Today, I’m sharing information about a couple new places we’ve visited recently: Tails and Ales dog park and the new Reasor’s location in South Broken Arrow (you know, the one with the playground!).

Tails and Ales

I first noticed Tails and Ales a few weeks ago when driving past the building at 19th and Boston. I was instantly intrigued by the name on the sign out front, so looked them up later. Tails and Ales is a private dog park that also serves coffee, specialty sodas and adult beverages. It also houses a pet supply room, with everything from large bags of food to leashes available for purchase.

I don’t have a dog so didn’t have an immediate need to go inside, until our Dads Rock blogger Lynn Hernandez wrote about hosting a community birthday party there. So of course, we had to attend to celebrate – and check out this interesting new business! And I do like coffee, so even without a dog, there’s a chance I’ll be back!

Since it was a hot day, our first stop was to the coffee bar for some bottled water. I couldn’t resist trying one of their specialty sodas (which are all dog-themed.) I tried “The Preacher’s Puppy,” which was coke with peach and half and half. It was really tasty! We chatted with the owner for a bit, and I believe he said they added more fun soda options after realizing they were getting a lot of after-school visitors from Council Oak.

How it Works

While the dog park is private, humans can always visit Tails and Ales for free. To use the dog park itself, you can purchase a day pass ($10), monthly pass ($30 for one dog or $45 for two dogs), or annual pass. Learn more about their pass options at tailsandalestulsa.com/become-a-member

The nice thing about the private dog park option is that they do have rules for the dogs to keep everyone, human and animal, safe. The basic rules are that dogs must be “fixed, vaccinated, and well adjusted to a social play environment.” See additional rules here.

The dog park area is large, featuring several picnic benches and a couple of very tall trees, providing a nice degree of shade.

Hours, as of Aug 2024: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 5-10 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

New Reasor’s Opens in South Broken Arrow

I kept seeing hype about the new Reasor’s set to open in South Broken Arrow, at 1914 W. Norfolk Dr. Why was the excitement building? In addition to being a very nice store inside, it also has an outdoor patio! And what can you expect on the patio? A playground, picnic tables, stage for live music, and more. There is a food service counter outside – and a full bar directly inside the restaurant.

The new location opened on Aug. 8, and we were there opening day.

Anyway, as a midtown Tulsa resident, I won’t be shopping here often. However, it was fun to visit for grand opening weekend and see all the amenities. (And try some free samples!)
