OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark

What a fun time the kids and I had Thursday night at the brand-new OKANA waterpark and resort in Oklahoma City! The weather was too chilly to enjoy the outside lagoons and swimming areas, but there are a ton of things to do indoors, including slides and a wave pool.
Shortly after Atticus, Angel and I arrived, we checked into our room, which is called a lagoon suite. It includes a separate bedroom that can be closed off by a door, so as soon as we walked in, my 15-year-old son claimed it. There is a really nice spare seating area and a separate sleeping area next to that with two queen-size beds, which is where my daughter and I slept.
The view from the 8th floor balcony is really cool, too, because it overlooks the outdoor swimming lagoons. And as an added bonus, later that night we were able to watch the drone show from our balcony. In fact, we could even lay on our beds in our room and look out the floor-to-ceiling windows and watch the drone show from the comfort of our beds! They had a fireworks show planned that night, but it was too windy.
We got our bathing suits on and went downstairs and ran into TulsaKids’ Tara Rittler and her son, Joss. They were having fun in the wave pool and said the lazy river was a lot of fun, too, so that’s where we started.
The water was cold at first, but as always the best way to cure that is to literally just jump in and fully submerge. So, that is what I did, and it worked like a charm. I jumped on an inner tube, and my daughter, Angel, and I floated throughout the lazy river that had really cool water spouts and waterfalls to make sure you get nice and wet.
My son enjoyed playing water basketball with some of the other teenage boys. They had lots of different slides and flumes to enjoy. My favorite was the giant green flume that requires a five-person circular raft. It reminded me of the Christmas package scene in Polar Express the way we slid in giant circular motions.
I didn’t get many pictures while swimming because I didn’t have a water pouch for my phone. Besides, I just wanted to have fun with the kids and leave my phone in our private cabana. Here is a couple I took.
Dinner that night was at a place called Jack Rabbit. It is their more upscale restaurant. They have several places where you can get a bite to eat. I was not totally surprised because it’s a resort after all, but with the tip, our bill came to $120 for three people. And I didn’t even get any alcoholic beverages, although they looked and sounded very tasty from the drink menu!
We were going to go swimming the next morning, but we partied so hard all day Thursday and Thursday night that I let the kids sleep in until it was time to get up and check out.
You HAVE to put OKANA on your things to do this summer! I know we are definitely going to go back when it’s warm enough to swim in the outside lagoons. And Daddy will definitely be getting me one of the adult beverages!
