Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. is the (Bath) Bomb!
Earlier this week, I was invited to attend a bath bomb media party at Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. on Cherry Street. The event promised make-your-own bath bombs, treats, shopping discounts and goodie bags. So I didn’t have to think too hard about RSVP-ing in the affirmative! Plus, I’d been meaning to stop by Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. for awhile anyway. We drive down Cherry Street most week days, and they usually have a bubble machine going. So I knew it would be a fun place to visit!

What I didn’t anticipate was how excited Joss would be. He loved exploring the store and sniffing the different scents. His night was pretty much made when he discovered some Harry Potter-inspired soaps on sale. And he LOVED making bath bombs! Another reason I RSVP’d was because he’s been asking for bath bombs lately. So far, I’d said “no,” just to save some money. So he was in bath bomb heaven.

Shopping at Magnolia Soap and Bath Co.
Beyond bath bombs, Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. offers homemade soaps, body butter, sugar scrubs, bath salts, laundry soap, candles and more. All products are made in-store. My favorite find was shower steamers. Since I don’t take many baths, I love the idea of a bath-bomb-for-shower-takers. One of the employees, aka Soap Stars, recommended peppermint for headaches.
Some of the products are customizable. You can pick out a jar of colorful, unscented bath salts, and have them add your favorite scent. They can also make custom bath bombs.
Of course, there are seasonal options, with plenty of gift ideas.
For the kids – or the young-at-heart – there are some fun, fandom-themed offerings. Of course, I was excited to see the unicorn soap! And all of the colors are so beautiful!
My favorite scents, if you’re curious, were the Lemon Drop and the Rosemary Mint. When it came time to picking a scent for our DIY bath bombs, I had trouble choosing between them! And I adored the poppyseed look of the Lemon soap 🙂
Bath Bomb (and Other) Parties
After browsing, it was time to make our bath bombs! Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. offers Bath Bomb parties for all ages. For younger kids, parents may need to make the bath bombs, but the kids can paint them. Making the bath bombs was very relaxing because it’s a project you can’t really mess up! I had to re-do my first one because I hadn’t added enough water. But you just throw it back in your mixing bowl and start over. Nothing wasted!

Joss did need some help making his. But the Soap Stars were very friendly and great with kids. They answered all his questions and helped him through the process.
To make the bath bombs, you choose your scent, color and topping for decorating. I chose yellow, lemon drop scent, with teal salts on top. All you have to do is mix a few ingredients together (being careful to add the right amount of water!), then place the mixture into molds. It’s all very simple, but you do feel like you’ve accomplished something! When you’re done, they package them up so they don’t explode prematurely 🙂
Our finished bath bombs!
Magnolia Soap and Bath Co.’s parties are currently $175 for up to ten guests (this will increase to $200 in January due to rising costs.) Parties last one hour and can be scheduled weekdays at 6 p.m., or Friday/Saturday at 6:30 p.m. For weekday parties, guests are able to bring in items and gifts. In addition to bath bombs, guests can make shower steamers and painting. In 2022, all of these options will be offered at both locations. Guests receive 10 percent off shopping during their party. Book a party by calling the store at 918.779.6006.
