City Year is a full-time AmeriCorps service program that empowers young adults, ages 17-25, to make a lasting impact in local schools while gaining the experience and skills needed for future career success. AmeriCorps members provide academic support, mentoring and encouragement to students who benefit from an additional caring adult in their corner.

Through a year of service, members develop the human skills that employers value most, including leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability and relationship building. These skills create a strong foundation for careers in education, business, healthcare, nonprofit leadership, public service and more.

Members receive a biweekly living stipend, health and mental health benefits, professional training and ongoing coaching throughout their service year. Upon successful completion of service, AmeriCorps members earn a Segal Education Award of more than $7,000 to help pay for college, graduate school or qualified student loans. They also gain access to scholarships and tuition benefits at colleges and universities across the country, including several institutions in Oklahoma.
