Rooster Days and Giveaways!
Great! Now that I have your attention, I have lots of fun things in my blog today, and I’ll tell you how your can win movie passes to see Jurassic World: Dominion!! And I have some cool surprises! But first, I’ll talk about Rooster Days.
Rooster Days
Cock-a-Doodle-Do!
Rooster Days in Broken Arrow was a lot of fun last night. Warning! If you’re going this weekend, the ride ticket booth only takes ca$h, so the only ATM on-site had a looooong line most of the time. Admission to the longest-running festival in Oklahoma (91 years!) is free, but I just don’t want you to have to waste money on the high ATM fees.
However, the food trucks and Broken Arrow Brewery truck take credit cards. And, I bought a T-shirt from local musician Travis Kidd using my Venmo app. He was the local band I went to see. The crowd loved him!
Fair-goers Ray and Will rocking out to Travis Kidd!
Entertainment for the rest of the weekend:
Please never be too shy to come up and talk to me. This beautiful couple sat next to me on a picnic table for a while before Travis Kidd gave me a shout out from the stage. This gentleman turned to me and said: “Wow! You’re Lynn Hernandez? Man, I’ve been listening to you on the radio for years. I’ve always wanted to meet you!” His wife and I had a nice chat and great laughs. And, he is from the Midwest but loves the Dallas Cowboys like me!
Atticus didn’t win the basketball game (does anyone ever?) but he did win the nerf gun game!
Surprise #1:
I have a new co-host for my Tulsa Rocks podcast. She has been a friend for a long time, but alas, she has always been at a competing radio station. But not anymore! Now that I work at Cox Media Group, I couldn’t wait to collaborate with her on a entertainment project and here she is, my new cohost: the one, the only… Jill Monroe!!
Our very first video together was at Coney I-Lander in Brookside. I wanted our first (of many!) to be at a Tulsa Tradition and Coney I-Lander has been serving up these yummy coneys and 3-Way chili for over 50 years. And we ran into a HUGE reason why Tulsa Rocks: Tulsa Fire Department!
Surprise #2:
On our video-podcast today at Noon (on Facebook), you will be able to win movie tickets to see the new Jurassic World: Dominion at Circle Cinema! You can join me and my kids this Sunday at 4:30 for free movie tickets, pop, popcorn, AND I am going to host Jurassic Park Trivia for fun prizes!
This will be the final addition to this epic, and one of my all-time favorite movie series. I am so excited about this movie I’m about to pass a egg. In Spider-Man fashion, it includes stars from the first movie along with stars from the most recent movie. Yeah, so my mind is going to be blown, I’m sure. I’ll have a movie review for you here on my TK Blog after we see it Sunday.
Surprise #3:

Buy your tickets here: www.Rocklahoma.com
Here is the full lineup:
Surprise #4:
Speaking of Seether, their drummer John Humphrey is an Oklahoma native. And I will be talking with him about what it’s like to be a Rock n Roll Dad in a special Father’s Day Edition of “Dads Rock” Blog next week! I will also be talking with a former (and current) band mate of his, Zac Maloy, singer of Oklahoma alt rockers, The Nixons! We will hear about their love for music and the toils it has on dads that very much miss their kids when the band and touring road calls.
And lastly but certainly not least,
Surprise #5:
Today I’m beginning to draw winners for my Tulsa Rocks Concert #2. You still have time to register to win tickets to see (and swim!) this benefit concert at Safari Joes H2O. In honor of June being Tulsa Music Month, Jill and I will be hosting three Tulsa bands at the water park on June 25. You are encouraged to donate either money (on my Venmo app) or GENTLY-used musical equipment. Tulsa Rocks will donate it all to Tulsa Public Schools Music Department so the next Leon Russell, Zac Maloy, or Garth Brooks has the tools needed to keep the Tulsa Sound rocking!
