Tulsa Has a Cat Cafe!
Don't Stress Meowt grand opening is January 11, 2025
Today, we got an amazing chance to preview Don’t Stress Meowt, the first cat cafe in Tulsa! Joss and I went to their Oklahoma City location several months ago, and loved it. But we were excited to learn that their Tulsa location is even bigger, which means more room for cats, hanging out – and other cool opportunities like boarding and grooming!
The Cat Lounge – Reservations
Of course, the biggest draw of a cat cafe is the cat lounge, which is available by reservation. An hour in the lounge costs $16.28 per person, which includes tax. According to their website, $1 of that fee is donated to a different local nonprofit each month. Reserve your spot at dontstressmeowt-catcafe.com/tulsa/cat-lounge
While the cat lounge is limited to eight people at a time, you can also reserve the entire cat cafe for two hours, for parties of up to 20 people. This costs about $300.
And, if you’re anticipating spending a lot of time at Don’t Stress Meowt, you can purchase a monthly membership for $43.41 each month. This includes four advance reservations, 10% off drinks and unlimited cat lounge walk-ins if you visit at a time when there are fewer than eight people there. Not bad!
Of course, because people have been eagerly anticipating the grand opening for some time, cat lounge reservations may be difficult to come by for awhile. So manage your expectations if you’re wanting to visit soon.
The Cat Lounge – Experience
We were so grateful to get to spend some time in the lounge itself! When we went to OKC, we hadn’t booked reservations in advance, which was a mistake. Of course, once we were there, Joss really wanted to visit the lounge, but it was booked up. The whole space is so inviting, with vintage furniture and whimsical cat trees, beds, climbing structures, etc. The cats know to use the restroom in a separate room that is inaccessible to visitors, so it stays nice and clean.
While we didn’t have to take our shoes off, once they’re fully open, you’ll need to wear some special socks, which are available by the door.
Joss was initially a bit sad because the cats weren’t flocking to him. But after he grabbed the right toy, he had a whole crowd of followers. And if you need a little help, there are some treats you can give to the cats as well.
The beautiful mural was made by OKC-based artist Hayley Owen.
And another wonderful thing about the cat lounge is that it’s wheelchair-accessible. There are two levels to the lounge, and a nice ramp connecting the two.
The Cat Lounge – Adoptions
Don’t Stress Meowt is partnering with Skiatook Paws & Claws Animal Rescue (SPACAR), so all the cats in the lounge come from this local rescue. If you fall in love with one, go to the SPACAR website (skiatookpawsandclaws.com) to begin the application process. Adult cats (over six months) are just $70.
The cats we met were so friendly, one just sat in laps the whole time, and all of them were alert and playful. And they do have private areas if they need to escape the attention at any point.
The Cafe
The cafe space is separated from the cat lounge, so you should be able to enjoy it even if you’re allergic to cats. They have your typical coffee shop menu, plus lots of fun, flavored syrup perfect for their “refreshers.” Eventually, they’re going to have custom cat-shaped taiyaki molds (what?!), but for now, they have a traditional fish-shaped mold. You’ll also be able to purchase “pawninis”! Flavors include peanut butter and banana, pepperoni pizza, etc. Purr-use the menu at dontstressmeowt-catcafe.com/tulsa/cafe
You do not need a reservation to visit the cafe.
In addition to enjoying eats and drinks, the cafe has a ton of cat-themed games to play, and a full wall of merch. You can buy Don’t Stress Meowt T’s, sweatshirts and mugs as well as their special coffee blend, antique cat items, stickers, homemade catnip toys and more!
Grooming and Boarding
This grooming and boarding rooms aren’t fully set up yet, but they’re hoping to open them by the end of the month. While the cats in the cat lounge all come from SPACAR, the grooming and boarding will be open to the public. We got a peek at the boarding rooms, and they are precious! They each have a little sofa, and a TV so the cats can watch cat-themed content. Plus there will be video cameras so their owners can check in on them while they’re away. It looked like a very cozy getaway!
