COVID, Days 3, 4 and 5
To catch you up to date on my first COVID experience, I will tell you what happened Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today. Today, I finally tested negative for COVID!
Days 3 – 5
In case you didn’t read the other days of my COVID experience, I have never had COVID before this week. As soon as vaccines were available, I have always made sure me and my son were vaccinated. As soon as boosters became available, I also made sure we got those. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten one and thankfully the virus has dissipated, but unfortunately not disappeared. Earlier this summer, I read that there was a new booster to protect against a new strain of the virus. I had totally planned on getting one ASAP along with my flu shot, but I kept putting it off for whatever reason. And, lo and behold, last Wednesday I tested positive for COVID.
Luckily, my symptoms were very mild except for last Monday and Tuesday, when I was having sneezing fits and my sinuses kept draining.
So I basically chalked it up to allergies but then on Wednesday, I started coughing every 30 minutes or so, which is a symptom of COVID. I never lost my sense of smell, taste, or humor!
I read that even if you get your COVID vaccine, much like your flu vaccine, that getting the virus is still a possibility; however, your symptoms should be much less severe. Which is possibly what happened in my case.
To keep everyone safe, I isolated at home all weekend, which was a real bummer because I had lots of events planned with my podcast, Tulsa Rocks, and I couldn’t do my radio shows, which I love. However, the most disappointing event was I could not take my daughter to the fair like I told her we would. It’s been missed time with my daughter Angel that has been the worst part of this all. I have not been away from her this long ever. I cannot wait to see her for our weekly visitation!
It has been a pretty boring weekend since I am such a people person to be stuck in the house, but at least I got lots of house chores done and got caught up on some TV watching . By the way, the new “Penguin” series is great! I had low hopes for it.
And on Sundays, you don’t have to tell me twice to sit on my couch and watch football all day! Watching the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (in Pittsburgh) just after midnight Sunday night/Monday morning got me feeling better immediately!
And now I am happy to report:
I was disappointed to see that a fast response COVID test cost almost $30. Insurance doesn’t cover any of it? WTH?
Oh well, I am never going to put off getting my vaccines again.
