Cock-a-doodle-doo!

We visit Rooster Days in Broken Arrow!

Prepare yourself for the massive amounts of fun you are about to witness in this blog post.

This past weekend, Broken Arrow celebrated its 83rd annual Rooster Days celebrations. My littlest little, Alec and I went to the parade and carnival on Saturday and had the time of our lives. Why did I only have one of my four kids with me, you ask? Well, my husband Marc decided to go fishing and we gave the kids an option of who they wanted to go with. Everyone else chose fishing.

Too. Bad. For. Them.

It was SO much fun to have quality one-on-one time with my little guy. It so rarely happens, and this was such a treat.

The weather was PERFECT, sunny and warm with a nice breeze. The parade kicked off the day and it was a good one.

The Broken Arrow High School Color Guard led the way. I wanted to be in the color guard when I was a little girl, but ended up being a dancer in the drill team. I still get chills when I see those flags flying!

Right behind the color guard was the Pride of Broken Arrow. My eleven-year-old stepdaughter, Corrinne will be in beginning band starting next year, so it was fun for me to see where she could be in just a few short years!

What’s a parade without candy for the kids? Alec was glad to have his hat to collect the goodies!

After the parade, we headed over to the carnival. The number one thing my little guy wanted to do was to play the “Balloon Dart Game,” as he calls it. He wanted to play it when we went to the Tulsa State Fair last year and didn’t get to. I guarantee you he’s been thinking about it often since then. I was SO glad to get to see him play, and pop 6 out of 7 balloons!

He was beside himself with satisfaction. I had just told him that morning about how we almost named him Alexander, but decided Alexander Sanders was way too silly of a name. He cackled like it was the funniest thing he’d ever heard and decided to name his alligator Alexander Sanders. Bless it.

Look at that face! Eat your heart out, girls.

Then we rode some rides. This is that one where everyone in the car gets squished. He was pretty excited about it until about halfway through when he started saying, “I hope it’s going to be over soon!”

Next, he picked the Alien ride where you make the car spin with a steering wheel on the inside. You can see his little red hat in there!

The great thing about going to a carnival with only one kid is you can afford to let them do more. Usually I have a budget and have to ration out the ride coupons. Instead, Alec got special treatment. It is FUN to spoil your kids!

He rode a couple more rides on his own, then we topped off our carnival trip with a ride on the Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel is my FAVORITE.

It is now Alec’s favorite too. We decided it helped to ease the queasy-ness if you looked out over the horizon instead of looking straight down.

 Happy boy. Happy Mommy.

After the carnival, we headed into Tulsa to get Brownie’s Hamburgers and he said it was the best day of his life.

Seriously. It might have been the best day of mine too.

See you around town!
