Tulsa families have a new reason to get outside. A newly reconstructed trail at Chandler Park is opening this Saturday—and it’s designed so everyone can enjoy it together.

Located at 6500 W. 21st St., the new 0.7-mile trail sits on the lower level of the park, an area that has been completely transformed from a former debris site after the 2007 ice storm into a welcoming, accessible green space.

Built for Strollers, Wheelchairs and Easy Exploring

What sets this trail apart is its accessibility. The 6-foot-wide paved path makes it easy to navigate with strollers, scooters and wheelchairs, creating a space where families of all abilities can explore side by side. Whether you’re taking a quick walk with little ones or planning a longer outing, the smooth, open design keeps it stress-free.

Scenic Views in Every Direction

The trail offers some of the best views in west Tulsa. To the west, visitors can take in the Arkansas River and nearby dam. To the east, the downtown Tulsa skyline stretches across the horizon—making this a great spot for both daytime walks and sunset views.

A Place to Learn and Gather

Along the trail, interpretive signage shares the history of Chandler Park and highlights the surrounding natural environment, adding an educational element for curious kids.

The project also includes a new stage and bandshell, creating space for live music, performances and future community events.

A meaningful addition to the trail is the Brook and Jill Tarbel Memorial Boardwalk, named in honor of two local disability rights advocates. Their legacy of expanding access and inclusion is reflected in the design of the space, helping ensure more people can enjoy Tulsa’s parks.
