An Angel Gets His Wings
One of my all-time favorite movies: It’s A Wonderful Life, circa 1946, featuring “James” Stewart and the breathtaking Donna Reed. Movies, for me, are an escape. I love going to the theater with the giant screen, immersive surround sound, and super comfy recliners with warming panels. And oh! That popcorn smell! I have to buy some, and I am not a big popcorn fan.
I have been known to get pretty emotional during sad scenes. And, even after seeing It’s A Wonderful Life a trillion times, I still cry through most of it. Jimmy Stewart’s performance is so real perhaps because many of us have felt the same way, the grass-is-always-greener way. Taking life for granted is so easy to do, but to see it portrayed with such conviction as Stewart does in this movie is almost scary because of how real it is to me.
If you’ve never seen it, please, do yourself a favor and watch it. It will help you realize the blessings of what you have instead of being upset for what you don’t.
AND MERRY CHRISTMAS BEDFORD FALLS! MERRY CHRISTMAS TULSA! MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU WONDERFUL ‘OL BUILDING AND LOAN!
It’s such a wonderful life. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with family and friends, or just by yourself. Remember, it’s a wonderful life.
My immediate family is in Texas and Ohio, and I won’t see any of them this year. But we will talk, text, maybe even facetime, so it’ll just be the kids and me. Remember, it’s a wonderful life.
“Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” – Clarence
I took my good friend’s advice and started a podcast a year ago. I’ve told you about it before, Tulsa Rocks. You can tell I don’t venture far from my “rock n roll” brand. Anyway, he and I talked about after being terminated from iHeartRadio that my radio fans might forget me. I not only wanted to help others in need like me but was hoping to remain relevant in this fast-changing world. I was pretty good at social media so I started my podcast, began writing this column, helped some people, and I guess helped remain relevant because I am finally going to be back on the radio!
This time I will be on 103.3 The Eagle, Tulsa’s Only Classic Rock. Please tune in for my first show on Christmas night, 10-Midnight!! I have a two-hour show featuring a genre I personally lived and love: ’80s Hair Metal! The show is called: “The Lynn HAIRnandez Show”!! Thanks, Kim Dallow and all at Cox Media Group for giving me a chance. And apparently, some of my radio fans are glad, too, because my announcement on Facebook garnered almost 1,500 views.
Since my first show is on Christmas, I am asking for “Christmas Shoutouts” from you to a loved one. I will do my best to read your message on the radio. Email me here: Lynn.Hernandez@CMG.com
“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary.” – George
Please give to others. I know it’s very popular to do around the holidays, and that’s great! But remember the other 11 months out of the year. And let me know when you do, perhaps my kids and I will join you! I volunteer them all the time! Lol
My non-profit this week (and last) is the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. My fellow Amazonians and I donated 132 pounds of food. And through Amazon’s 1 Million Acts of Kindness, we donated a $1,000 gift card from Amazon. Here is the link to help the food bank: Home Page – Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma (okfoodbank.org)
From my family to yours, may God bless your home, family, and friends. And, I know the holidays can be sad for some (believe me, I know!) but remember, It’s a Wonderful Life.
