“Happy Birthday to You”
Atticus turns 16

My son, Atticus, turned 16 on February 7. Were you born on that date, or do you know anyone born on that date? If so, they share birthdays with famous people like: Oklahoma country music legend Garth Brooks, comedian Chris Rock, actor Ashton Kutcher, and more.
When it’s your birthday, is there a song you like to listen to, besides the traditional Happy Birthday song? I always listen to The Beatles’ “Birthday.” My son was cranking 50 Cent “In da Club.”
His wish was to go to Cinergy Entertainment to go bowling, enjoy pizza, play video games and check out their new Escape Room called “Eat, or be Eaten.”
Since it is for ages 13+ I was expecting the lights to black out, or some creepy guy in a Jason mask to jump out, but nothing like that happened. It was a blast though! My son and his three friends all loved combining brains and using the clues to escape without being eaten!
I just sort of sat back and let them all control the game. Some of the clues were super hard to decipher and stumped me. The thing I loved the most was to see teenagers having fun and NOT STARING AT THEIR PHONES, even for just an hour, which is the time-limit to escape.
At 16 there wasn’t much gift-opening. Kids at that age would rather have $ more than anything, so that’s what he got. Oh believe me, we could spend hours in Scheels picking out gifts and spending thousands of dollars, but I’m at the point of giving him money and letting him budget his own gift buying.
