This week, I’ll just be sharing about a couple new businesses you can visit in Tulsa! Meadow Gold Mack’s on Route 66 and The Pump Bar.

Meadow Gold Mack’s Route 66 Outpost

This is Mary Beth Babcock’s latest Route 66 venture. It joins Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios and Buck’s Vintage on 11th Street between Utica and Peoria. (Also known as the Meadow Gold District)

You’re no doubt familiar with Buck Atom, a towering “Muffler Man” statue standing outside of Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios, a souvenir shop located in a converted old gas station. Buck himself will be joined later this summer by Stella Atom, a 19-foot-tall space cowgirl! Meadow Gold Mack – the Friendly Lumberjack – will also make his debut in summer 2024, helping making Tulsa’s Route 66 “The Land of the Giants.”

Meadow Gold Mack’s is just down the street from Buck’s, on the corner of 11th and Peoria. It is a huge space and set up like your favorite antique mall, with several different vendor spaces. Here, you’ll find everything from local art to antiques, collectibles, western apparel and more.

Highlights

Do you remember Mary Beth Babcock’s original venture, Dwelling Spaces? Then you may be excited to hear that there’s a Dwelling Spaces space inside Meadow Gold Mack’s! If you’re not familiar, think bright art prints incorporating robots and donuts, fun T-shirts, postcards featuring iconic photos by Gaylord Oscar Herron and quirky stuffed animals.

I was very excited to see a booth for my favorite store, Love Me Two Times.

Near the front of the store, you’ll find a section dedicated to Meadow Gold Mack merch. I bought some of their custom coffee blend, made by Topeca. It smells delicious!

Joss was most excited about the gumball machine.

Behind the gumball machine, you can see the art wall, which will rotate out with different art.

And if you’re a fan of Big Dipper Creamery, you’ll be happy to see the Big Dipper display just to the left of the front entrance.

One of the nice things about this kind of store is that there’s a wide variety of price points on merchandise. One of my favorite art pieces was over $700 – so sad for me! – but I also left the store with the cutest vintage mug for just $8. I’ve used it every day since.

The Pump Bar

Since Joss is out of school half of this week and next week, we’ve been trying to find some fun things to do. On Thursday, we visited the new Pump Bar Tulsa. Which, like Buck Atom’s, is located in a converted gas station – this one from the 1960s. It’s located at 6th and Lewis, so I’d passed it several times while it was under construction. Now it’s open, so I was excited to give it a try!

The original Pump Bar is located in OKC

In addition to being in a unique building, they’ve added bright murals both to the right and left of the entrance. It’s very eye-catching!

I didn’t get a picture of the other mural, as the porch was very crowded

Inside, the decor is nice and vintage-y. I even saw a few pieces I recognized from previous Love Me Two Times visits, haha. There are more murals inside, and fun, retro lighting.

There’s an old pinball machine, and two dart boards. The pinball costs $1 to play, but the darts were free! Joss really enjoyed them. I learned that I’m absolutely, embarrassingly awful at darts. But…it’s still fun to try.

Menu

The menu is pretty interesting, lots of burgers, sandwiches and tater tots. We didn’t get drinks, but there’s a fun cocktail AND mocktail menu. The mocktail menu includes four “Golden Girls”-themed beverages. I’d probably go with the Rose – blackberry, fresh mint, lemon and grapefruit soda. Here’s a link to their menus as of May 13, 2024.

I ordered the Elvis sandwich – flambeed bananas, bacon and peanut butter. Then, I couldn’t resist upgrading to the “bougie tots” for an extra $1. These came with “finely shredded herb parm,” garlic aioli and bacon jam.

There was a large group of school-aged kids there when we went. After 9 p.m., I believe, it goes to 21+.

Wrapping up!

Have you been to either Meadow Gold Mack’s or The Pump Bar? Do you have any menu item recommendations? Do you have any other new Tulsa-area businesses to recommend? Tell me about them in the comments!
