September 25: “Screen Time Strategies” with Valerie Larson-Howard, LCSW
If you asked parents about their top concern regarding their kids, you would hear two words: screen time. This would be followed by worries over online dangers, addictive video games, and social media pressures. They would also cite recent articles and research studies that warn us about dangers our digital world poses to our kids.
These worries are all valid, but since this is a new world for all of us, it’s hard to know what to do. At this month’s Tulsa Kids Live!, we will go beyond the scary headlines and discuss practical strategies for how parents can guide their families in rethinking the role electronic gadgets play in their lives.
Valerie Larson-Howard is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years of experience providing therapy to kids, teens, and adults. She is also a mom to three teen boys, and has been known to loudly say “be in my world” when the electronic dependency has felt overwhelming. For more information about her therapy practice, check out her website: valerielarsonhoward.com
