Tulsa Public Schools partners with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to provide meals for all Tulsans

This summer, Tulsa Public Schools is partnering with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to provide free meals for adults and families on Wednesdays during Summer Café grab-and go-service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following seven locations:

  • Celia Clinton Elementary, 1740 N. Harvard Ave.
  • Cooper Elementary, 1808 S. 123rd East Ave.
  • John Hope Franklin Elementary, 5402 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.
  • MacArthur Elementary, 2182 S. 73rd East Ave.
  • Marshall Elementary, 1142 E. 56th St.
  • Memorial High School, 5840 S. Hudson Ave.
  • Sequoyah Elementary, 724 N. Birmingham Ave.

“We are so grateful for this partnership with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma,” said Superintendent Deborah Gist. “We know that food instability continues to be a challenge for families throughout Tulsa. I encourage every Tulsa family who needs it to take advantage of our meals program.”

Families do not need to provide any type of documentation to receive a meal on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the seven meal site locations.

“Tulsa Public Schools has done a fantastic job of providing meals to its students throughout the pandemic,” said Jeff Marlow, chief culinary officer for the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. “This partnership will bring additional relief to so many families just now getting back on their feet or who continue to struggle with low-wage jobs and unemployment. Through these meals, we hope children and adults will be well-nourished through the summer and ready to rise to their full potential.”

Tulsa Public Schools is also continuing operations of the grab-and-go meal sites and mobile meals bus stops throughout the summer. Summer Cafe provides nutritious meals free of charge to children ages 18 and under during the summer months. The district will provide “Grab-and-Go” breakfast and lunch meals at 36 sites and deliver “Mobile Meals” to approximately 100 bus sites throughout the city. Families can find meal-sites and service times at www.tulsaschools.org/mealsites.
