Get Ready for the Tulsa State Fair!
Food, entertainment and agriculture collide at the Tulsa State Fair. The annual event opens at 11 a.m. on September 26. Family fun is the goal and the fair has something for everyone!
Corndogs, Pineapple Whip and Lemonade. What’s your favorite fair food? Is it Fire Roasted Corn on the Cob or a Deep Fried Oreo? What about an Indian Taco or Ribbon Fries? Food is king at fairs across the country and Tulsa’s fair is no different. While no one should miss out on their favorite traditional fare, the new, creative (sometimes peculiar) and delicious foods steal the spotlight. This year, as you stroll through the River Spirit Expo or cruise down the midway make sure to try the new Caramel Apple Nachos or, if you’re feeling ambitious, “The Rebel”–a funnel cake sandwich with ham, turkey, a cheesy bechamel sauce with triple-berry sauce infused with Woodford Bourbon.
Now that you have found a snack, grab a seat and enjoy one of the many free shows. Looking for acrobats? Don’t miss The Chicago Boys, or the Chinese Acrobats of Hebei on the Gathering Place Stage. Love Dogs? All-Star Stunt Dog Challenge. If you want to be part of the action, the Pearl Beach Backyard Party Tent will host an arm wrestling championship on September 28 and a Cornhole tournament on October 5.
Go, Dog. Go!
Three years ago, North American Midway became the midway service provider. Their service brought over 60 rides and featured 11 new rides. They will return in 2019, with additional new rides and games, and you won’t want to miss your chance to ride the iconic Sky Ride, which only operates during the 11 days of the fair.
The Tulsa State Fair’s premier livestock shows will feature the best of the best from all 77 counties of Oklahoma and some out of state exhibitors. Over 12,000 animals will be onsite throughout the fair! Horses, cattle, sheep and goats are just a few of the livestock animals you will be able to watch. Stop by the Super Duty Barn to visit the Petting Zoo and Birthing Center, where you will find a variety of adorable farm animals. For guests who would like to learn more, the Aglahoma Exhibit will feature fun facts about our state and Trough Talk presentations.
