City of Tulsa Ready for Sixth Annual 918 Day; Events Scheduled for 918 Day Week
The City of Tulsa has several options for Tulsans to get involved and celebrate 918 Day (Sept. 18). This year’s 918 Day theme is The Story of Tulsa, with sponsors Mother Road Market, Mythic Press, and Visit Tulsa.
The Story of Tulsa honors Tulsa’s past as we continue to write the next chapter of our city’s history. Since the beginning, the city’s foundation was established through its diverse cultures and traditions. Today, the city is a testament to its resilience, with a diverse and vibrant community that values its heritage while embracing progress and innovation.
“918 Day represents what I love most about our city,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “Residents coming together to celebrate what makes Tulsa the best city in the world.”
The City of Tulsa will help celebrate 918 Day through three different events:
Mon., Sept. 18 – 918 Day Tour of Tulsa
To celebrate 918 Day, Mayor Bynum is embarking on a tour of Tulsa from 9:18 a.m. – 9:18 p.m. on Sept. 18. Each hour, Mayor Bynum will travel to various Tulsa destinations throughout the city while detailing his trip on social media. You can follow the Mayor’s Tour of Tulsa on Facebook @Mayor GT Bynum.
Sat., Sept. 23 – 918 Day Scavenger Hunt – Deadline for Sign-Up is Sept. 15
Test your knowledge of Tulsa’s history in a free citywide scavenger hunt. Groups of four will team up and receive clues to Tulsa locations. Participants will also receive the “official” 918 Day t-shirt, courtesy of our event sponsors. The winning team will be announced the following week and receive a basket of Tulsa treasures.
Registration is required for the scavenger hunt. You will need a team name and up to four participants to register. The Scavenger Hunt will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. Participants must attend the kick-off event at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 23 at Owen Park, 560 N. Maybelle Ave., Tulsa, OK 74127, to check in and receive their clues. Register at: www.cityoftulsa.org/918Day
Sat., Sept. 23 – 918 Day Post Scavenger Hunt Celebration
Scavenger Hunt participants and Tulsans alike can meet at Mother Road Market, 1124 S. Lewis Ave. in Tulsa, following the conclusion of the Scavenger Hunt. Participants can enjoy the additional 918 Day activities at Mother Road Market.
