Social Justice Story Hour is a family-friendly, interactive story time for families with children of all ages. We enjoy snacks, sing songs, and share stories about PEACE. Each month we focus on a broad idea of social justice and make it accessible and meaningful to young children. We’ve explored issues of disaster relief and displacement, life cycle rituals around the world, child hunger, immigration, and self-acceptance. Our goal is to empower young children to use their strong voices and actions to be kind friends, helpers, and powerful agents of social change.
This Story Hour we will be celebrating the two year anniversary of the Library! In honor of what would have been Khalid Jabara’s 40th birthday, we will be dedicating our first “Peace Begins With Me” Bench in his honor. We are honored to feature Mr. Symon of Hot Toast Music Co and special guest reader Rabbi Marc Boone Fitzerman of Congregation B’nai Emunah.
This community event is free with admission. Children are always free at Philbrook, and free community passes for adults will be available at a first come, first served basis upon entry.
- When: Thursday, July 11, 1 p.m.
- Where: ahha Tulsa, 101 E. Archer St.
Join us at 1:00 PM on the second Thursday of each month for an adult-focused, child-friendly tour of exhibitions in THE GALLERY.
Juice, snacks, and the occasional toddler tantrum won’t bother our expert educators, who’ll engage you in deep conversation, close looking at works of art, and gallery activities. Exhibitions in THE GALLERY change every few months, so you’ll want to return again and again for new experiences.
Drop-in stroller tours are included with admission and always FREE for members.
