TCCL Writing Workshops for Kids

Teen Writing Workshop: Comix

  • Date: Tuesday, Feb. 5 ● 5-6 p.m.
  • Location: Owasso Library, 103 W. Broadway St. 

Get ready for the Young People's Creative Writing Contest! Do activities and receive useful tips on how to write a comic or graphic novel. All materials are provided. From Script to Screen: Intro to Screenwriting for Ages 10-18

  • Date: Thursday, Feb. 7 ● 6:30-8 p.m.

Are you an aspiring screenwriter or filmmaker? Get a behind-the-scenes look at the page-to-screen process and learn how to get your idea on the page in a dynamic, cinematic fashion. Join Michael Wright, playwright, screenwriter, poet, fiction writer, journalist, performance artist and stage director, and learn the fundamentals of screenplay format, the essence of dialogue and the value of well-crafted action narrative that focuses on the visual language of film.

Writing for Comics

  • Date: Saturday, Feb. 9 ● 12:30-2 p.m.
  • Location: Central Library, 400 Civic Center, Intergalactic Spaceport and Emporium

Learn how to write for comics and graphic novels. We will work on storyboarding, layout and problems unique to this genre. Registration is required. Brain Storms: New Works by Young Writers*

Watch as contest-winning short plays by writers ages 10-18 are brought to life by Director Michael Wright and his cast. Brain Storms features the winning short plays from Tulsa City-County Library's 2018 Young People's Creative Writing Contest.
