Candidate forum Tulsa Public Schools, School Board, District 2

The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa and the Booker T. Washington High School PTSA are partnering to co-host an event on Thursday, February 2, 2017

The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa and the Booker T. Washington High School PTSA will host a candidate forum for the candidates running for the Tulsa Public Schools, School Board District 2 seat. Two candidates have confirmed that they will attend the forum. They are:

Phil Armstrong

Amy Shelton

The February 14, 2017 primary is a non-partisan election and could determine the winner in the seat. The forum aims to inform voters on each candidate’s stance on the issues facing the Tulsa Public Schools School Board. We believe that forums are one key mechanism in ensuring that voters are armed with authentic information when heading to the polls on February 14, 2017. Michael Patton, Vice President of the Booker T. Washington High School PTSA will moderate the forum using the League of Women Voters’ Candidate Forum Guidelines. League Voter Services Chair, Mary Jane Lindaman states, “We are thrilled to partner with the Booker T. Washington High School PTSA for this forum. Voters will be able to hear the candidates in person and determine for themselves who they feel will best represent the district on the school Board. ”

“As the Parent Teacher Student Association at Booker T Washington high school – we are bringing this forum to you so you can actively engage with the future leader that will make decisions representing your voice and desires of the future of schools in District 2 – we are thrilled to co-host this with the League of Women Voters and invite one and all to attend, ask questions before the election on February 14th”

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the forum which is to be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Booker T. Washington High School, 1514 E. Zion, in the Seminar Room and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
