Bearing Memories

These are custom-made bears that will become keepsakes. Rhonda has a unique talent for creating sweet and lovable bears out of special fabrics. Whether it’s a favorite athletic jersey, college t-shirt, or cozy sweater, it will be given a new purpose by becoming the body of an adorable teddy bear. Using a European artisan pattern, the bear is cut from your chosen fabric and can be jointed to create the pose you wish. The nose and mouth are hand embroidered and the glass eyes are hand sewn. Embellishments of patches and small buttons along with coordinating garments/fabrics for the paws and ears further personalize the bear. Rhonda works closely with her clients to create a bear that is a keepsake of memories. Important to note, this bear is similar to a collectible in that it is not intended to be a toy for young children. The step-by-step process Rhonda takes to custom-make a bear is displayed through photographs on her website where you can also view other bears she has made. The final product is filled with organic, hypo-allergenic stuffing and, depending on the fabric and pose, will stand between 12 and 17 inches.

These award-winning fine chocolates are beautiful, decadent and available in downtown Tulsa. The top of each artisan chocolate is made to artfully display various colors, patterns and shapes. With between 25 and 35 flavors available at any given time, there is a large assortment to choose from including my personal favorites: Mediterranean Sea Salt Caramel, Peanut Butter and Jelly (PBJ) and Lemon Dark. Boxes can be embellished with a “Happy Mother’s Day” ribbon, which is a nice touch. Glacier Confection is located in the Brady District of Tulsa. The trendy chocolatier was standing room only when I visited a couple of weeks ago and the line was out the door – well worth the wait. Yum! Vegan and Gluten-free chocolates are also available.
