Town and Country SchoolEssential Information
Founded in 1961, Town & Country School is Oklahoma’s only accredited, non-public, full-day program specifically designed to meet the needs of students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, attention disorders and Asperger’s Syndrome. Serving students in grades 1-12, Town & Country improves each student’s life by advancing critical academic, social and personal skills through individualized attention, family support and flexible curriculum enhancements. Our program focuses on our students’ positive aspects and teaches them skills that compensate for their weaknesses and builds their self-esteem and motivation. Children with learning disabilities, attention disorders and Asperger’s Syndrome are bright – they just learn differently. And teaching them presents many challenges, because their learning disabilities are so varied. From dyslexia to focusing on minor details to restrictive or repetitive behaviors, our students require individualized attention, customized to their particular needs and issues. But we look beyond their difficulties to find what our students can do – not what they can’t. This builds self-esteem and inspires our students to learn. We believe that by providing the right tools and developing the right skills, our students can be successful in their life goals – including college attendance, vocational/technical training, future careers, successful interpersonal relationships, and community and civic involvement. Town & Country admits only students with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, attention disorder or Asperger’s Syndrome, together with an average to above average IQ. |
