Tulsa's Beloved Drive-In

Jun 14, 2012 - 09:00 AM

In honor of the grand reopening of Tulsa's very own Admiral Twin Drive-In TOMORROW, I thought I'd share some pictures from one of our most favorite and memorable dates!

The Admiral Twin is a Tulsa legend. Pinball Rebel's blog tells more about the history of the Drive-In, showcasing pictures of what it looked like before it burned to the ground in September of 2010. My husband, Marc and I were fortunate enough to have one last adventure there and were able to experience it as it was for so many years. Opened in 1951 as The Modernaire Drive-In, the Admiral Twin is located at 7355 E. Easton St. off of historic Route 66.

He had a whole plan for optimizing the comfort of our truck bed.

We had gorgeous weather and clear skies.

Back then, you could bring a cooler with a lovely picnic.

We thoroughly enjoyed watching Toy Story 3 without our kids.

It was a truly unbeatable and unforgettable date with my love!

Not only is Admiral Twin an integral part of Tulsa history, it's an important part of American culture. Both screens have a double feature, so it's an entire evening of relaxing, outdoor entertainment for the whole family, or for date nights!

Read Channel 6's news story on the soft grand opening here, and get more info about tickets, events, and Drive-In policies on their Facebook page here. It looks like they're not allowing outside food and drink anymore, which means no more lovely picnics like ours, but they have concessions available!

See you around town!
