Market on Main
Oh blessed Summer. There are so many days to fill with the kiddos, and so many things to do! We adore getting out and about, seeing the town and visiting local businesses. It's about the only thing that keeps my sanity!
One of my most favorite Summer activities, besides berry picking, is visiting the Farmer's Markets around town. The closest one to us is the Market on Main in Downtown Broken Arrow. You'll find it right in the center of town near the Broken Arrow Historical Society.
Just south of the museum is a big open town square. On Saturday mornings, it's filled with booths of local vendors selling their goodies!
Like the lovely family that owns Eden Veggies. They have an indoor, hydroponic garden and grow fresh, local produce all year round!
The boys were thrilled to buy fresh green tomatoes from a little girl that was just about their age. Gives me ideas - maybe I need to put these guys to work! I used those lovely treats to make my first ever batch of fried green tomatoes. Oh my goodness, they were yummy.
How can you not buy some homemade barbeque sauce advertised on a cute chalkboard? Mr. Brown's is really delicious and mild - perfect for little ones afraid of the spicier stuff.
The BBQ sauce got me dreaming about potato salad and we went right over to Mac's Produce and picked up some nice red taters. Aidan helped me pick the basket.
Market on Main is a small market compared to others, but there's a great variety of fresh produce and even a hot dog stand with treats to eat while you shop!
Including wine tasting from a local vineyard. Yes, please and thank you!
I bought some truly delicious honey wine called Orange Blossom Meade from these lovely ladies from Summerside Vineyards. You've got to try it! I think I smell an adventure; I'd love to drive out to Vinita and see the vineyard!
By the time I made it to Leaves of Cement, I'd already spent my allotted farmer's market money, but I will be coming back for one of these gorgeous bird baths. She has some really unique and beautiful artwork for indoors and out.
Alec made a new friend, but thankfully he wasn't for sale. I guess we'll have to go back soon to visit him!
See you around town!
