Getting Fresh at Cherry Street Farmers' Market

Am I the only one who feels more like eating healthy food when it's presented to me in an enticing way? Something about the lighting in certain grocery stores and apples all lined up in pretty rows instead of jumbled in a case actually make me want to eat the apples instead of bee line to the snack section. You know what also makes me want to eat healthier foods? Farmers' markets! The outdoors, the fresh air, the sunshine and the friendly farmers all make for an atmosphere that causes me to pull out my pocketbook and fill up my bag with fresh veggies. Recently, the family and I made it out to Cherry Street for the Cherry Street Farmers' Market to round up some fresh grub. We also had the film crew out to shoot for the Honeybee Mama show on Tulsa Feed, so be on the...

Tulsans Gather to Raise Awareness and Improve Birth

Yesterday, I joined dozens of men and women who gathered at Green Acres Market in Jenks for the Improving Birth Rally for Change to raise awareness for the maternity care crisis in the U.S. Here I am with my friend, Brooke White, who is a sister doula and Bradley Method Childbirth Educator in the Tulsa metro. It was so empowering to see all the people that came out to support the cause, and it wasn't just childbirth professionals like me! I was particularly inspired by Nikki Rogers and her husband and family who gathered and held signs for the entire two hours of the rally. Improving Birth strives to bring evidence based care and humanity to childbirth. Why is this need so important? Despite the $98 Billion dollars our country spends on maternity care (the most...

Honeybee Mama on Tulsa Feed

Hey guess what, I have my own show! River Country Water Park and My Crazy Kids

It's beginning to set in that Summer Vacation is over. Even though here in Oklahoma the temperature is finally starting to FEEL like Summer, the kids are back in school and the pools are officially closed. We had all kinds of fun swimming this summer, including neighborhood pools, friends' pools, the sprinkler and kiddie pool in the backyard, and even a day at the water park.  Though it's closed for the season now, I still wanted to share with you our super fun day at the River Country Water Park in Muskogee. It's a little bit of a drive from Tulsa, but makes for a fun day trip and admission to the park is extremely reasonable to make it worth the trip! Information about admission, directions and parties can be found HERE. After enduring all the...

Free Movies in the Park

Although Summer vacation has come to an end and all Tulsa area schools are officially back in session, there are still some great Summer activities happening. Staying in the theme of my free Summer activities, I want to tell you about Movies in the Park at Guthrie Green. As always, events at Guthrie Green are FREE, open to the public and family friendly. Each Thursday evening, Circle Cinema presents a film on a big screen right on the stage. They've been showing favorites like Clueless and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and last week it was Raiders of the Lost Ark! Now, I'm all about being a fun mom and taking my kids on adventures, but let's get real. I'm a huge Indiana Jones fan. I've lost count of how many times I've seen The Temple of Doom and...
