Tiffany Bjorlie isn’t a mom – yet. But, as she and her husband Jeremy began thinking about having a child, Tiffany started to do some research. “I had been working with children with autism and developmental disorders [in Norman], and there’s a lot of research about environmental triggers,” said Tiffany. Tiffany noticed a large increase in the number of diagnosed developmental disorders over the past few decades and a link to toxic chemicals people are exposed to every day in the products they use.
Before having a child, Tiffany and Jeremy wanted to be able to give their baby the best start possible. Since they share a background in studying the effects of the environment on humans, they began to research products. “To satisfy my maternal instinct, I started making lists of things I would need that were toxin-free,” said Tiffany. “Our idea of an enjoyable evening is sitting on the couch with a laptop in front of us.”
After struggling to find ecologically responsible products in and around Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Tiffany and Jeremy decided to open Lundeby’s Eco Baby, located at 3638 S. Peoria. The couple wanted to give Tulsans a place to shop for their little ones and know that they are buying quality, non-toxic and ecologically friendly products.
Eco Baby, which opened in March, carries non-toxic and organic toys, clothing, cloth diapers, bedding, furniture, skin care and more. Things you will not find are lead, bisphenol-a, phthalates, pesticides, formaldehydes or any other suspected toxic ingredients.
Jeremy, a biomedical engineer, has spent many hours working in laboratories and with research papers on the strain that industrialization has had on the earth. “While ecosystems are unbelievably resilient, there comes a point when recovery is helter-skelter at best,” he said. “The vast expansion of human industrial output and waste is straining the world’s ecosystem and it is unlikely the results will be favorable to humans or to their environment.”
“Everyone must think about the power of their purchases,” said Tiffany. “Choices made today will decide the outcome of the world tomorrow. Lundeby’s Eco Baby allows you to give your babies and toddlers the best start while supporting practices that ensure they will inherit a better earth,” said Tiffany.
“As increasing awareness of pollution, waste, unfair labor practices, and toxicity brings discussions into the mainstream, it is importance that we make an effort to embrace a new way of living,” added Jeremy.
The Bjorlie’s are committed to carrying natural and sustainably made lines from suppliers who care about quality, fair labor practices, and environmental stewardship. As a result of their extensive and thorough research, you can be assured you are buying healthy, beautiful and functional items for yourself, your baby and our world.
