Afternoon Activities for Toddlers in Tulsa
The past few weeks, I've been a work-at-home mom. Wowsa. Normally, I spend the first part of the day in the office while my 2-year-old goes to MDO. Recently, I've been spending the first part of the day trying to wear my 2-year-old out to prepare for a good naptime so I can get cram in some work---usually while breastfeeding my 3-month-old. A couple of times I've gotten them both to sleep at the same time. I've even got a victory dance down for when that happens.
I'm tired. To the SAHMs and WAHMs, I salute you.
Anyways, while I've been home, I've been taking advantage of all the fantastic activities around Tulsa for toddlers in the morning. We've been to the storytimes at the Schusterman and Hardesty libraries, the new splash park at Whiteside Park, and the sea lions at the Tulsa Zoo practically recognize us from taking advantage of the zoo's early hours (which are over now).
The problem that I've noticed is that there are hardly any activities for toddlers after noon. So, this morning while we were at the Whiteside Community Center attending the free "Try It" gymnastics (that is happening again on Thursday, September 6th), I explained my dilemma to the ladies at the front.
Eureka!
That's when I found out that they're starting a new program there called "Afternoon Adventures!" It's for ages 2-5 on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. It's $8 per class, or you can pay $35 for all 5 classes. Here's the rundown:
Sept. 10---Messy Art
Sept. 24---Tye Dye (bring a white T-shirt)
Oct. 15---Musical Make Believe
Oct. 29---Gross Goodies
Nov. 5---Parachute Playtime
Also, coming during the holiday season is "Santa's Workshop." It's for ages 2-5 on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. November 26th-December 17th for $35. They'll learn to work like the elves in Santa's workshop making magic reindeer hay, decorating stockings and making holiday treats.
If you know of any free or low cost activities for toddlers in the afternoon, please share in the comments below and maybe we'll see you there.
